My Gossip Girl May Birchbox!

image

For a little while now I’ve been going back and forth wondering if I should sign up for Birchbox. Once I started getting word that this months box would be Gossip Girl themed I just jumped at it! Sign me up baby! I signed up for the waitlist so many times in hopes that I could snag this chic mystery box. Finally, I received an email notifying me that the flood gates have been opened. I could finally get my box! Yayyyy!

Ok so everything comes in a super adorable recyclable gift box. I’m not sure I want to throw it away! I’ll probably keep it and put my mail in it. I was pretty excited to see what was inside. I’ve seen peeks at one of the boxes this month and was totally hoping I would receive a pretty polish too! Let’s see what came inside!

On top of my beautifully wrapped goodies laid a greeting card telling subscribers a little about one of my favorite guilty pleasures Gossip Girl and that this months samples are everything a girl needs for a chic weekend out on the town. On the back of the card is a list of all the products and full size  prices for all the curious kittens out there.

I love how nicely Birchbox packaged everything! Presentation is really important and they definitely didn’t miss the mark! Inside my box was a lip balm, hand cream, conditioner and a perfume sample.

I won’t say I was disappointed because I did get a full size FusionBeauty balm but I did want a polish. I’m such a brat lol. It definitely wasn’t a bad box though! I’ve heard great things about Ojon hair products so I’m glad I’ll be able to try one out.

Like I mentioned earlier, I received a full sized FusionBeauty LipFusion Balm. Birchbox says, “This moisturizing balm has gentle (no stinging) plumping formula and goes on super smooth.” I tried this balm out the second I seen it and it’s actually pretty nice! It definitely glides on smoothly and left my lips feeling soft and moisturized. I’m not sure about the plumping part (I already have pretty plump kissers) but I did feel a slight tingly sensation. It didn’t bother me. It actually felt pretty good. Plus it smells like peppermint! This balm retails for $22 in the Birchbox store so my box paid for itself and then some!

Next is the Caudalie Hand and Nail cream. “Nothing sets off a glossy new mani like super soft skin and this French brand’s antioxidant cream definitely delivers,” Birchbox raves. I don’t exactly have a new mani but I still wanted to give this cream a try. I’m pretty glad I did! It smells nice and it definitely leaves your skin soft without the greasy or oily feeling afterwards. Pretty impressive! It’s also a nice size at 0.5oz. I can get quite a few uses out of it. The full size 2.5oz bottle can be found at Sephora for $19.

Also included was the Ojon Damage Reverse with Ojon Oil Restorative Conditioner. Birchbox claims this product “repairs stressed stands” using exotic ojon and monoi oils together to smooth and hydrate hair. I received a 1oz sample so I should definitely be able to get a couple uses. This conditioner can also be found at Sephora for $25.

Last but not least, I received a Arquiste Flor y Canto perfume sample. This scent is described as a “fresh blend of sweet blossoms” and a “white floral scent” that takes inspirations from an Aztec festival. It definitely has a floral scent but it smells more like a soap (LOL). I doubt I’ll really use it and certainly won’t buy it for $165.

Overall, this box was ok. I did think it would be more like the Teen Vogue box so I am a tad disappointed but it wasn’t a total waste. The balm was a nice score!
