The Ambient Lighting Powders took the beauty world by storm last year and now Hourglass is swirling a bit of pigment in the mix! Meet the new Ambient Lighting Blushes! The six marbled beauties will be making their way to Hourglass’ permanent line up in just a couple weeks and I’m pretty excited. However, if you’re a Sephora VIB and don’t mind being a little hasty these beauties are available now as a special preview until February 1st. Check them out!
This review is so long overdue! I hauled the LORAC Pro Palette last year for my birthday and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since! Naked who? I almost completely abandoned my original Naked palette because the PRO palette is soo good! I’ve already made dips in several shades and actually hit pan on shadow. It’s become my go to palette!
The packaging is simple yet chic. The PRO palette comes in an incredibly slim magnetic casing with silver accents. It’s very lightweight and easy to travel with. The LORAC PRO palette is one of the few eyeshadow palettes I pack with me for EVERY gig! It’s so portable and versatile! Inside you’ll find a nice sized mirror and 16 neutral eyeshadows in a variety of finishes from shimmer to matte. The top half of the palette is completely matte while the bottom half contains the more shimmery shades. I’m completely impressed with the color selection and the fact that there are just as many mattes as shimmery shadows. I prefer to keep the shimmer to my lid (and maybe brow bone) so it’s refreshing to have a palette that isn’t overrun by glitter.
Now here’s where all the magic happens! All of the eyeshadows in the PRO palette are very pigmented, buttery and blend very well. Including the mattes! They’re some of the best matte shadows I have ever tried! Although the shadows are buttery soft I don’t get much fallout and they don’t feel powdery. Each shade is silky to the touch and easily picked up with both natural and synthetic hair brushes. Without primer I easily get over 8 hours of wear before I notice any fading. I do have drier lids though so oily gals will probably fare much better with a good ol’ primer underneath! On top of primer, these shadows have carried me through a long night and the next morning! LORAC definitely knows how to do eyeshadows! I honestly can’t think of one bad thing to say about the LORAC PRO palette. It has 6 more eyeshadows than the Urban Decay Naked palette and is $10 cheaper ($42). I just hate that the brand is being phased out of Sephora so it’s no longer available there. But there’s always Ulta and Nordstrom!

The only thing I can’t resist more than limited edition MAC collections is bright, bold makeup and this collection is just filled goodies I can’t turn away from! To help break our winter weather blues MAC is gearing up to release A Fantasy of Flowers featuring pastels and brights galore. Whether you’re into spring themed eyes, lips, tips or cheeks you’re bound to find your perfect pop of color here! Check it out!
Lately I’ve been finding myself lining my lips to the gods! A good lip liner can extend the wear of your lipstick, make the color really pop and really give your lips definition. I love using lip liners to alter the color of my lipstick (or gloss) a bit but my favorite way to use them is to contour my lips. I know some ladies skip the lip liner but it’s so important to achieve a crisp, clean lip! You can either fill in your lips completely or create a nice contour by outlining your lips and then filling in the corners leaving the center bare. A great deal of my lip liners are from MAC but you can use any brand to achieve luscious lips!
After hauling Heroine and the Punk Couture lippies I’ve been in bright purples and bold vampy colors a lot! I’ve been using deeper shades to create a nice sexy contour and the bright shades to shake up the color a bit. My current faves include:
- Fashion Boost
bright purple cream
intense reddish purple
- Embrace Me
vivid pinkish fuchsia
vivid pinkish purple
intense violet purple
MAC Currant, Fashion Boost, Vino, Embrace Me, Nightmoth and Magenta lip pencils
It’s finally here ladies! The Viva Glam Rihanna campaign launched online Tuesday but you can now head to your local MAC and test the glam for yourself! I know you guys are probably a wee bit over MAC and Rihanna but this collection is for such a great cause. All the proceeds will go to MAC’s AIDS fund to help men, women and children living the virus. Of course, this round of Viva Glam goodness is limited edition but it’ll stick around all year so you’ll have plenty of chances to snap it up at any MAC location of your choice. Because of the special (and super cute) packaging Viva Glam Rihanna will set you back $16 instead of the usual $15. But it’s totally worth it to help others, right? I’m pretty over red lippies at the moment but I just can’t get over the packaging. It’s too cute! So I’m sure I’ll be hauling it sooner rather than later lol. Will you ladies be hauling the Viva Glam combo this year?
Yes, I’m still knee deep in my love affair with Milani’s Color Statement Lipsticks! I just can’t believe the quality for how cheap they are! Uptown Mauve and Sangria were a dream and Black Cherry is no different.
January is almost over but Sephora is still thinking skincare! Last night I took a trip to my local Sephora inside JCPenney to check out the Sephora Favorites Customized Skincare Set I’ve been reading about online. I’ve always been a fan of the Sephora Favorites Sets but this is probably one of the best yet! You’re presented with a cute retro polka dot faux leather bag and the chance to fill it up with 5 of 14 skincare minis for $30. It’s such an amazing value!
